This interview is probably the most personally meaningful one I have done yet.
Today I interviewed one of my first trumpet teachers.
Not only was he one of my first teachers, but he is also one of my first mentors.
And today, I get to share him with you.
Today John shares his experience with an injury that plagued him for over two decades, and how that impacted his performing career, and teaching career.
We talked about the importance of rest as a musician, as an injury recovery and prevention tool.
We also talked about how he has found fulfillment in new ventures in his retirement from trumpet, and how a 50 year career in music has taught him patience and grace.
Among many other things we talked about, my takeaway from our conversation was:
